The microbiology laboratory services both as a reference laboratory and a Hospital laboratory. It operates three shifts Monday - Friday and two shifts on weekends. <BR><BR>What you will be doing:<BR>Position mentors and coaches microbiology staff to ensure quality performance. Position oversees all aspects of performance management including regular evaluations for staff. Oversees scheduling. Ensures that procedures and methods are performed according to section protocol, including quality control parameters and result reporting. Adjusts workflow depending on the work volume. Oversees troubleshooting of equipment and software used in work area. Oversees supply/material management including troubleshooting and optimization. Meets the objectives of the organization by maintaining high standards of quality, efficiency and economy. Does budget planning for microbiology area in coordination with lab director. Essential to collaborate with Specimen Management department with regard to specimen delivery, handling, storage and orders as appropriate. Work collaboratively with other testing areas and lab locations on projects to ensure efficient, effective patient care. This position will have time allotted for administrative duties as well as bench assignments. During key times the ratio of bench time to administrative will flex (ie: large projects, evaluations etc.). Flex schedule on a weekly basis to meet with night shift and evening shift caregivers. Works collaboratively with Technical Specialist and the medical director and lab director in all aspects of the work area. <BR><BR>What you need to qualify for this job:<BR> At least 2 years experience as a Microbiology Supervisor in a Hospital Lab setting<BR> 4 yr. degree in a related field is expected; Master's degree is preferred<BR>* Must be a CMT (Certified Medical Technologist)<BR> Ability to work a very flexible schedule (days & nights)<BR> Proven success in managing the performance of your subordinates<BR> Steady and stable work history.
