<STRONG>Job Description</STRONG><BR/><BR/> We have an immediate need for a Sr DBA for a contract to hire position. The ideal candidate will be very fluent in both Oracle and SQL, but just one of them is OK. The client has locations in multiple states with both Oracle and SQL Databases and all are supported from a DBA team that sits in Portland. <BR> <BR> <STRONG>General Summary:</STRONG> <BR> The Database Administrator 2, provides administrative support for Relational Database Management System issues in a multi-facility organization; utilizing client/server technology and a centralized infrastructure system for deployment across the state. Information Services provides the support for 85 applications used across the the region. <BR> <BR><STRONG>Required:<BR></STRONG> Bachelor degree plus 6 years experience in a related technical field(*) OR Associate degree plus 8 years experience in a related technical field OR 10 years industry related technical experience.<BR> Demonstrated ability to program in at least two applicable programming environments. Thorough knowledge of SQL and SQL extensions for at least on RDBMS. Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify technical issues, determine causes, and resolve them or enlist the appropriate resources. Thorough knowledge of RDBMS tuning, backup and recovery processes. Working knowledge of Unix and/or NT system administration. Ability to work in a team environment with multiple projects assigned to each team member, on multiple RDBMS s.<BR> Formal training in relational database management system (RDBMS) administration and SQL.<BR> At least 4 years experience in RDBMS administration with at least 2 years experience in platform administration OR at least 4 years experience in RDBMS administration with at least 4 years experience in RDBMS application development OR at least 4 year experience in RDBMS administration required.
